| The rushing sound of the wind makes my heart ignite with excitement. Don't you just love it? It's quite powerful. I think back to when mami and I received news that we could now move into our current apartment in New York City. Our place was still bare without furniture, but I wanted to camp out. I was ten then. That first night laying down on some blankets, I could barely sleep! The howling of the wind kept me awake - it sounded as if a woman was wailing. Just imagine it. Twenty five stories up, the Hudson River in your view (that is if you aren't legally blind like me ), and your unfamililar balcony rattling. The only light visible was from the moon's reflection in the waves of the water. Eerie, yet strangely beautiful. Of course now I am accustomed to the sounds of my home, and instead of having fear grip me, I just listen intently. Today reminded me of the beauty of the wind. |
